Fused deposition modeling of isotactic polypropylene filled with titania nanotubes (TiNTs).

This work evaluated the reinforcement performance of Titania nanotubes in isotactic polypropylene (iPP) matrix. This reinforcement was added at 1.0 and 1.5% by weight in the polypropylene matrix. FT-IR analysis was performed to verify the tubular structure formation, showing the presence of 912 and...

Descripción
Sumario:This work evaluated the reinforcement performance of Titania nanotubes in isotactic polypropylene (iPP) matrix. This reinforcement was added at 1.0 and 1.5% by weight in the polypropylene matrix. FT-IR analysis was performed to verify the tubular structure formation, showing the presence of 912 and 647 cm-1 bands corresponding to the frequency region of the Titania nanotube skeleton. A filament was fabricated from the nanocomposites for FDM printing of specimens using an Ender 3 Pro printer. The thermomechanical properties were characterized by dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) where for the 1.0 and 1.5 wt. % composites. The storage modulus (E') was superior compared to pure iPP, showing an improvement of (40% and 60%) respectively.
