Descripción
Sumario:This paper aims at analyzing the evolution of municipal government research in Mexico with the purpose of recognizing their connection with the social, economic and political context in the country. The 1 429 publications that are systematized and classified in the Catalog of Publications on Municipal Governments were reviewed for this paper. The outcomes of the analysis reveal that research on municipal governments in Mexico has followed a strategy of collective work to respond to this level of government’s heterogeneity throughout the country. Also, national and municipal scope has been privileged in studies on municipal governments with a strong tendency to the use of qualitative methods.
