| Sumario: | This article traces the recent evolution of Canadian politics, from 2000 to 2011. During this period, the country has transitioned from a Liberal government with an absolute majority, headed by Jean Chrétien, to a majority Conservative government headed by Stephen Harper. This change has been the product of intense political-electoral battles that have required that the citizenry go to the polls 5 times in 11 years. This reflects the intense partisan activism that has taken place there in the last decade. |
