Descrição
Resumo:This article aims to present the theoretical-analytical and methodological contribution of Pablo González Casanova to the construction of a militant sociology for emancipation. To this end, I draw on four categories of the Mexican thinker’s social theory, which I consider central to his intellectual thought, and which demarcate the transition from the sociology of exploitation to the sociology of emancipation: colonialism, exploitation, hegemony and crisis, and class autonomy. I highlight González Casanova’s analytical pathways and, in particular, his engagements with history, culture, and the struggles undertaken by popular sectors to think through and construct emancipatory horizons.
