In doing this authors also sought to take into account the limitations of each disciplines and take advantage of the fact that they complement each other. The qualitative surveys included in the demographic study are more than illustrations of the quantitative results, as they are meant to improve the understanding of problems and the methodology used, on the basis of the testimonies given by people interviewed. Using this strategy, the authors seek to pinpoint the elements that accaunt for changes that have taken place in nuptuality, as well as to identify the impact of these changes on descendance.Este trabajo se basa en un estudio realizado entre 1989 y 1991 en tres localidades rurales del estado de Morelos, para el cual se hizo una encuesta sociodemográfica y entrevistas de profundidad. El objetivo metodológico de este artículo es considerar la nupcialidad bajo dos niveles de análisis, el demográfico y el antropológico, tomando en cuenta sus limitaciones internas y a la vez su complementariedad. Dentro de este estudio demográfico, las encuestas cualitativas no son una simple ilustración de los resultados cuantitativos obtenidos, sino que tienen el objetivo de alimentar la problemática y la metodología en el campo demográfico, a partir de los testimonios concretos de las personas entrevistadas.
