The present analysis is the product of a broader research work, whose main objective is to analyze the behavior of the inflationary phenomenon, which has a negative impact on economic growth and is an element that aggravates the problem of poverty and inequality in income distribution. The study of inflation on this occasion corresponds to that observed throughout 2005, and is carried out in the area comprising the municipalities that make up the Guadalajara metropolitan area.Durante los últimos 40 años nuestro país ha experimentado tasas altas y variables de inflación, lo cual ha incidido en el crecimiento económico, principal condición para contribuir al abatimiento de la pobreza y la desigualdad que ha venido caracterizando a la economía mexicana. El presente análisis es producto de un trabajo más amplio de investigación, cuyo objetivo central es analizar el comportamiento del fenómeno inflacionario, mismo que tiene un impacto negativo sobre el crecimiento económico y que se constituye como un elemento que agudiza el problema de la pobreza y el de la desigualdad en la distribución del ingreso.
