Descripción
Sumario:The objective of this bibliographic review is to be able to identify the main oral manifestations associated with patients with SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for the current pandemic and associated with the acute respiratory disease called coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Until now, it has not been possible to establish specific care protocols for infected patients because clinical and oral manifestations abound and new ones are discovered every time; however, it is expected that the disease in the oral cavity will be identified in a short time, considering the importance of diagnosis within the dental field. Reports of intraoral lesions have been found in people with COVID-19, with the oral cavity being the first transmission mechanism through saliva. There is evidence that supports the direct and indirect role of COVID-19 in the development of oral lesions. We conducted a search of literature published in PubMed, Scielo, and Google Scholar libraries from December 2019 to January 2023, with the aim of collecting the largest amount of data reported on oral manifestations of COVID-19, the search was performed with the objective of collect the largest amount of data reported regarding oral manifestations of COVID-19. Forty-seven articles were retrieved that described different types of oral lesions associated with COVID-19.
