Additionally, Palestine and the creation of a Palestinian state is a cause that his party (the Workers’ Party, PT) has traditionally supported. Before leaving office in December 2010, his government recognized Palestine as a state considering borders prior to 1967 (in accordance with United Nations General Assembly resolutions). The critical stance towards Israel that we observed since late October does not come as a surprise. In addition to being predictable, it occurs in different and radicalized environments, both domestically and internationally, with distinct effects.Ante la guerra en Gaza, no era difícil anticipar la postura que iba a tomar el tercer gobierno brasileño de Lula (2023- ), dado que su equipo de trabajo se parece, con matices, al que acompañó su diplomacia durante sus primeros dos mandatos (2003-2010). Además, Palestina y la creación de un Estado palestino es una causa que su partido (el Partido de los Trabajadores, pt, ha apoyado tradicionalmente. Antes de dejar el poder en diciembre de 2010, su gobierno reconoció Palestina como un Estado con las fronteras anteriores a 1967 (apegándose a las resoluciones de la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas, agnu).
