Sumario:In this study a regression was used to characterize the growth curve in wool lambs (Polipay X Rambouillet) and hair (Pelibuey) of weaning up to 152 days. Weighed every 14 days, they were given a ration with 15.25% crude protein and 3.01 MCal metabolizable energy. A highly significant effect (P <0.01) of age (time in days) was found with respect to weight. For lambs of wool and hair the coefficient of determination was 0.774 and 0.782. The equation that best predicted the growth curve was cubic: ў = 19.108 - 0.357 (days) + 0.006 (days) 2 - 0.00001688 (days) 3 and: ў = 7.737 - 0.150 (days) + 0.005 (days) 0.00001913 (days) 3. The model explains that 77.4% of the wool lambs growth is related to the days elapsed from weaning to the slaughtering age and 78.2% in the hairs. The daily gain of weight (GDP) was higher in wool lambs than in hair lambs.
