| Sumario: | This paper deals with the issue of the territorial pattern of tourism in Monterrey, the third largest Mexican city, where manufacturing and associated services have always lead the expansion of the urban economy. It is assumed that due to the existence of ready available infrastructure, the increasing of those services has unintentionally sparked off the growth of the tourism economy. The text is divided in four parts: a) the position of Monterrey within the Mexican tourist hierarchy; b) the description of both natural and cultural resources that make up the platform upon which tourism is being promoted; c) the assessment of the most significant survey-questionnaire results from which the essentials of the territorial features of tourism in this part of Mexico were found; d) final considerations regarding the promising future of tourism in Monterrey. |
