Descripción
Sumario:A small confesionario (c. 1547), which is probably the earliest example that has come down to us of this type of pastoral literature in the Nahuatl language, is preserved in the RES/165/1 manuscript from the Biblioteca Nacional de España. The aim of this paper is to provide an initial description of this important document and present the transcription and full translation of it, so that this work can become a source for future studies. Like all confessional manuals written in indigenous languages during the colonial period, this text contains valuable information on the concerns and strategies put in place by the evangelizers, and on that world and that indigenous language that they intended to purge.
