Sumario:Intragenetic Typology focuses its interest on the analysis of properties that are observed in genetically related languages to explain processes of diachronic linguistic change that manifest themselves without trying to develop proposals for historical reconstruction. The analysis of the comparative constructions in Uto-Aztecan languages that are still spoken in the northwestern region of Mexico, Pima Bajo, Tarahumara, Guarijío, Northern Tepehuan, and Yaqui, allows us to show the variety of types of comparative clauses that occur in these languages and to claim in favor of the different grammaticalization paths that give rise to the marker of the standard of comparison, that is, the key operator that contrasts the topic of comparison with the standard of comparison.
