Descripción
Sumario:In this work we make a comment about the relevance of the Mac Bride Report; written by the Mac Bride Commission and which celebrated 25 years in 2005. After a general introduction we summarize its five parts and underline their main suggestions. In the third part of our paper; which is the most extense; we present a detailed analysis of the last segment; called “Conclusions and suggestions”. We analyze the first segment (foreword); the relation between Title/Subtitle and the way some receivers are mentioned in it. Some pragmatic issues are analyzed through the suggestions and recommendations for this Report. The importance of this analysis resides in the lack of other papers dealing with the Mac Bride report as discourse. It is done using the pragmatics framework and the theory of communication to show how the diplomatic discourse tries to hide tensions within its production process.
