The sf-36 questionnaire was used to know quality of life of the elderly; measures of central tendency, frequency and dispersion were used for data analysis. Results: 120 seniors participated, an average age of 68.6 years (±7. 1) was obtained, 51.7% were female (n=62), 51.7% were married (n=62), and 30% were overweight (n=36). Regarding quality of life, it was found that patients had physical function, physical role, general health and emotional role affectations. Conclusions: elderly with dm2 presented problems in four of the eight dimensions related to their quality of life; it is necessary to extend these observations to other first level clinics in order to large-scale sizing affectations of the elderly with dm2.Objetivo: evaluar la calidad de vida en adultos mayores con diabetes mellitus tipo 2 (dm2) que acuden a un centro de salud en Villahermosa, Tabasco, México. Métodos: estudio transversal, se ocupó un muestreo no aleatorio por conveniencia. Participaron 120 adultos mayores con dm2 que acudieron a control metabólico en una unidad de primer nivel de atención, se midieron variables sociodemográficas y clínicas; se utilizó el cuestionario sf-36 para conocer la calidad de vida de los adultos mayores; para el análisis de datos se utilizaron medidas de tendencia central, frecuencia y dispersión. Resultados: participaron 120 adultos mayores, se obtuvo una media de edad de 68.6 años (±7.1), 51.7% era de sexo femenino (n=62), 51.7% estaba casado (n=62), y 30% tenía sobrepeso (n=36). Respecto a la calidad de vida, se determinó que los adultos mayores presentaron afectaciones en la función física, el rol físico, la salud general y el rol emocional.
