| Sumario: | The aim of this paper was to make a diagnostic about the public transportation; taking as example an intermunicipality route (Toluca-Metepec, belonging to the ATR line, Autotransportes Toluca Capultitlán Triángulo Rojo S.A de C.V.). The methodology used is deductive-empirical based on the basic concepts of urban mobility and public transportation; in the route, aspects of infrastructure, operation and costs are identified through the application of surveys in field trips. The results show that there isn´t any planning of the analyzed route; there is duplicity and traffic jams. Bus drivers don´t respect the official location of the bus stops and the buses are obsolete; the general service is inefficient and deficient. It is highly recommended for future investigations to consider three indicators, the first, the public transportation fee; second, reduce the vehicular park and third; the public transportation must to be public no private.
