| Resumo: | The article relates and comments on the incidents derived from the requests for the expulsion of Spaniards and castas. in indigenous towns of colonial Michoacan. It points out that in many cases, these events were the source of lengthy conflicts and became the prevailing issues of the local political life, which is the reason why they can not be discarded as unimportant episodes of rural intrigues. On the other hand, this text endeavors to reconstruct the context where the denunciations against “foreigners” took place and argues that behind and beneath these happenings, there were underground currents and stresses acting, which were not always evident at first sight. |
