spelling Descartes, the man, in his meditations El hombre Descartes en sus MeditacionesParent Jacquemin, Juan MaríaAuthors generally disappear behind their writings and their lives do not confirm the ideas expressed in their formal texts. Descartes, the rationalistic philosopher, leaves the impression in his writings that he is solely rational and thus gives rise to the judgment of coldness associated with his philosophy. The intention of this work is to look for another facet of Descartes in his writings – his emotional dimension. Our search will uncover another Descartes full of sentiments and contradictions, who will reveal himself as such through Meditations that appear to be solely concerned with the realm of Metaphysics. Our analysis will show that René Descartes was a man with the same problems and doubts as his readers.
