Description
Summary:The first geomagnetic station (COV) has been installed near Colima volcano by the Geophysics Institute of the NationalAutonomous University of Mexico, and Colima Volcano Observatory at the University of Colima. This station measure the scalarmagnetic field and belongs to the geomagnetic monitoring network of active volcanoes in Mexico.Comparison between COV, IGRF (International Geomagnetic Reference Field) and TEO (Teoloyucan GeomagneticObservatory) data shows a high correlation with a coefficient of R= 0.994. COV provides a suitable reference site for highprecision geomagnetic observations in western and central Mexico. Web site provides access to real-time data for this station(http://www.igeofcu.unam.mx/geomagne/geomag.html).
