Sumario:The development of co-generation worldwide has been sought through its promotion within the different sectors that have the potential (i.e. the capacity to implement it) labor stimulated by governments and supported by public governmental and academic organizations, as well as private commercial associations and directly by the makers of the equipment. This has aimed to make the process more dynamic, achieving good use of the potential, developing the market, expanding and strengthening the electricity sector, making the best use of energy, mitigating any pollutive effects, and stimulating more efficient technologies. In the specific case of Mexico, this effort has been much less successful, given the results obtained since 1992.
