| Sumario: | An approach is made to the possible link between forest fires and illicit crops. For this purpose, data and statistics on forest fires and the geographic areas and dates in which they occur are reviewed. An overlap is made between this information and that related to the municipalities, where, according to official information, marijuana and opium poppy are produced. This paper focuses on an analysis of the municipalities located in the so-called Golden Triangle. As a preliminary conclusion, it can be assumed that there is a possible causal link between the production of illicit crops and forest fires. |
