| Resumo: | Written as an introduction to the dossier in honor of María Luisa Bombal, on the occasion of the centenary of her birth, this text also presents the reader with biographical information on the author, explains her literary milieu and considers her contributions to the same. In addition to situating Bombal among the other women writers active in the period between Modernismo and the dawning Vanguard in Spanish America, the essay plays particular attention to her narrative prose that resembles poetry in its rhythm and imagery, as well to the psychological depth of her female characters. |
