Resumo:Geographically the more than one hundred earth-tide stations in the world are strongly concentrated in the temperate zone. Probably lees than a dozen exist in the equatorial belt, where the largest earth-tides occur. Because this major neglected area is so important, I especially value this opportunity to discuss earth tides with the present audience, many of whom are citizens of countries in the belt still to be explored.
