| Sumario: | The aim of study was to evaluate if expectancies predict alcohol consumption risk in college students according to the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT). 450 college students from a public university of the Estado de México, were assessed using the Alcohol Expectancy Questionnaire (AEQ) and the AUDIT. The results indicated that the expectancies predictors the alcohol consumption risk (F= 87.222, p= 0.000). According to the AEQ sub-scales, increased sexuality expectancy predicted of risk and prejudicial consumption. There was no other significant predictive expectancy related to the rest of the consumption types. The importance of knowing how expectations influence the consumption of alcohol is because it is a guide to know the specific factors that are involved in consumption and thus have better prevention strategies. In this paper, increased sexuality expectancy predicted of risk and prejudicial consumption, so it should focus on the development of skills of moderate consumption and aspect related to risky sexual behavior, to avoid consequences like unwanted pregnancy among others. |
