Descrição
Resumo:The presence and levels of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH's) in sediments and biota frorn the Port of Salina Cruz, Oaxaca; were evaluated by rneans of gas capillary chrornatography using columns of high resolution. The results show a seasonal mriabiiity of the PAH's concentrations in sediments being higher in the port area and lower in oceanicVsediments. The increase of the PAH's levels in Crussoslrea iridiscens and Panars stylirostris is important and related to the bioaccumulation processes. The presence of PAH's conforrned by 4 y 5 benzene rings in these species must be noted specially because they have carcinogenic properties and their effects on the local fisheries should be considered.
