Sumario:The knowledge of pests that affect agriculture in general, the study of biology, biotic and abiotic factors, their preferential and non-preferential hosts, in addition to their behavior according to the temporal and spatial distribution, determine integrated management strategies , components that represent essential elements for the execution of tactics aimed at reducing the risk of dispersion, through the execution of biological control actions with the release of natural enemies and monitoring strategies based on direct sampling on preferential hosts and monitoring through the use of traps with synthetic sex pheromone for the detection of adult males, combined with cultural and legal control. The pink hibiscus mealybug (CRH) Maconellicoccus hirsutus (Green) (Hemiptera: Pseudococcidae) is a pest that represents a high risk for regional, national and international agriculture, first for the number of preferential and potential host plant species to which it is associated, both cultivated and wild, and second, by its easy mobilization through the import and export of products and plant by-products. Beginning in 2004, when the presence of the insect in Nayarit, Mexico, was officially reported, pest management strategies were integrated to eradicate, contain or manage outbreaks of the pest, to minimize the risk of dispersion to agricultural areas. the region and to other entities in the country.
