Sumario:This essay takes on one hand, a balance in political science from the institutionalization of the discipline, and secondly, the study of local politics. In light of the major theoretical and methodological debates occurring in the world, Latin America and Mexico, continues witha reflection on the state of political science in the State of Jalisco. Subsequently in greater detail, is sketched from the creation of undergraduate and graduate programs in the federal state the process of institutionalization, finally is exposed the production of the academic community of this region.
