The results show enormous heterogeneity. Three large morphological dimensions are also identified that are independent of each other: one operating at a local level linked to the urban layout, and another two on a metropolitan scale on the macro-format and distribution of activities.El propósito de este artículo es analizar, a través de un ejercicio cuantitativo, algunos aspectos de la morfología urbana de las 59 zonas metropolitanas de México para el año 2010. Se miden siete indicadores importantes para el debate actual, relacionados con el crecimiento extensivo y disperso de las ciudades, así como con la proliferación de estructuras urbanas policéntricas. Los resultados muestran una heterogeneidad enorme.
