Resumo:Indigenous languages are part of the national cultural and linguistic heritage. The plurality of indigenous languages is one of the main manifestations of the pluricultural composition of the Mexican nation, this is marked by the General Law of linguistic rights. And that all indigenous languages should also be considered as national languages. Clearly it can be observed that the reality is different because most of the indigenous languages do not enjoy prestige, it is considered a prestigious language when it is learned in the school environment through formal education, although sometimes you have the knowledge only of the indigenous language as mentioned by Alcaine (2004). The social recognition of an indigenous culture but mainly of its language determines to a large extent the conservation or replacement of a language. Not being recognized as a national language causes you to start losing users gradually.
