| Sumario: | This research aims to analyze the ejidatarios’ traditional knowledge of San Sebastián Río Hondo, Oaxaca, about forest exploitation and forest conservation. The research is of a qualitative nature based on the methodology of Content Analysis; the source of information consisted of fieldwork in the ejidos of the municipality with the application of semi-structured interviews in 2021. The results show that: the ejido land, made up primarily of pine and oak forests, is exploited below its forestry potential and has remained inalienable since its origin, which has allowed for the conservation of silvicultural resources. On the other hand, no traditional practices that favor forest conservation have been identified, except for ejidatarios’ forest walks to prevent and control fires and pests. |
