Descrição
Resumo:This critical essay recovers the theoretical contributions of Alberto Guerreiro Ramos, author of The sociological reduction (1959), a valuable contribution to Latin American thinking on science and the university, which we attempt to reconstruct. His statements are intertwined with current research issues on the mobilization of knowledge. Research agendas, assessment of academic activity and the usefulness of knowledge are analyzed in the light of Guerreiro Ramos’s original contributions, as well as his analysis and proposals on the specifics of sociological work in Latin America as a peripheral region.
