Description
Summary:In this study, the researchers recovered these documents that had been barely mentioned or misquoted in previous works on the polemic Italian traveler and scholar, whose works on the Virgin of Guadalupe and Mexico’s pre-Hispanic past began a broad field of work and research for the next few centuries. The letters, written in Latin, were carefully translated because of their importance in explaining the problems in which Boturini was involved with the administrative and ecclesiastic authorities of New Spain, which culminated in imprisonment and exile from the viceroyalty.
