Resumo:The author shows the panorama of partisan independence in Latin America, emphasizing the configuration that ideology exerts on citizens without party identity. It analyzes the phenomenon from a quantitative approach and uses data from the Americas Barometer 2018/2019; the analytical argument distinguishes between independents that do not manifest an ideological link, from those that do. Likewise, it differentiates the independents according to their ideological position of left, center, right and, without ideological position. The results show that there is a majority of citizens without party identity in the region
