Descrição
Resumo:this article illustrates the diplomatic process that led to the creation of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW). This process included the active participation of civil society at the Humanitarian Conferences, which required the engagement of the leading countries on nuclear disarmament. The article analyses how, through similar or parallel processes, diplomacy can contribute to the great goal of disarmament, nuclear disarmament, by generating new narratives, stigmatizing nuclear weapons, delegitimizing them, prohibiting them and detonating a process of disarmament in the medium term. The author argues that the TPNW can contribute to nuclear disarmament on the medium term.
