Sumario:This article analizes the situation of fertility in the state of México at the beginning of the nineties. The fertility levels in Mexico have been decreasing since the seventies. The important decrease wich appeared at the State of Mexico was affected by the inequality between the diferent regions of the entity. The performed study at municipality level shows the diferences among the fertility levels, education, and the inequalities in the economical participation rates of the female population. The last two phenomena, education and economical participation are presented as the explicative variables wich have had more influence in the lowering of fertility.
