| Sumario: | The Programme for International Student Assessment (pisa) of The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (oecd) points to a growing interest of Mexican teenagers in science, but underperformance in that area. The Elaboration Probability Model (mpe) postulates that a positive but weak attitude does not motivate people’s behavior. The study is cross - sectional, descriptive - comparative with non - probabilistic intentional sampling of 229 adolescents from the state of Guanajuato. The mixed methodology included a quantitative study with the application of a scale of attitudes and a qualitative study with open questions. The statistical results show an attitude towards positive and weak science, as suggested by the mpe. Content analysis describes scientists as intelligent, yet boring, lonely, and crazy. The need to strengthen attitudes towards adolescent science is discussed. |
