Description
Summary:A list of 35 species of the genus Pheidole distributed in the state of Puebla, Mexico is provided, based on literature reports and specimens from regional collections, and complemented with diagnoses, distributional, biological, and taxonomic comments. Pheidole hirtula Creighton, 1958 is synonymized under Pheidole obtusospinosa Pergande 1896, because both names are considered to represent extremes of the normal intraspecific variation of a single species. Thirteen species are endemic to the country and 7 are new state records. Seventeen morphospecies could not be identified to species level.
