Resumo:The Big Data phenomenon is recent, as shown by the scarce publications over this matter, a fact which incentives this research whose objective is to compile and make reference to academic documents included in the data bases Scopus and Web of Science, as well as to analyze its contents. The method used was the descriptiveresearch of first approach, which consisted in the search and retrieval of information in Scopus and Web of Science during the period 2008-2018. 39 of the analyzed documents, corresponds to 70 authors distributed in 14 titles of scientific journals, whose type of contribution is allocated in 19 articles, 10 comments, 6 letters to the editor and 4 reviews. Another relevant result is that there exists a high concentration of publications in Science and Nature. Big Data and IC phenomena have been recently introduced and are found in redefinitions and conformations of constant study domains. We found an interest in Big Data research, yet on the other hand, after a conceptual analysis, we propose the definition of Big Data.
