Delay aware Reactive Routing Protocols for QoS in MANETs: a Review

Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) are wireless networks, which do not require any infrastructure support fortransferring data packets between mobile nodes. These nodes communicate in a multi-hop mode; each mobile nodeacting both as a host and router. The main function of Quality of Service (QoS) routi...

These nodes communicate in a multi-hop mode; each mobile nodeacting both as a host and router. The main function of Quality of Service (QoS) routing in MANETs is to establishroutes among different mobile nodes that satisfy QoS requirements such as bandwidth, end-to-end delay and to beable operate within the limited energy constraints. Efficient QoS routing protocols are required by most commercial,real-time and multimedia applications. Ad Hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV) and Dynamic Source Routing(DSR) protocols are two of the most on-demand protocols used in MANETs. These protocols use shortest path as amain metric to establish routing between source and destination. However, they are designed primarily as best effortservices and as such they do not fully heed QoS requirements as required by MANETs. This paper presents anoverview of reactive routing protocols in QoS which use delay as a main metric.MANETs, QoS Routing protocols, Delay.Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México2013-12-01info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionPeer-reviewed Articleapplication/pdfhttps://jart.icat.unam.mx/index.php/jart/article/view/25710.1016/S1665-6423(13)71590-6Journal of Applied Research and Technology; Vol. 11 No. 6Journal of Applied Research and Technology; Vol. 11 Núm. 62448-67361665-642310.22201/icat.24486736e.2013.11.6reponame:Journal of Applied Research and Technologyinstname:UNIVERSIDAD NACIONAL AUTÓNOMA DE MÉXICOinstacron:UNAMenghttps://jart.icat.unam.mx/index.php/jart/article/view/257/254Copyright (c) 2018 Journal of Applied Research and Technologyinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessoai:ojs2.localhost:article/2572024-08-16T17:54:14Z
