| Resumo: | This article shows how the policy of land restitution in the Colombian region of Montes de María is not reversing the process of depeasantization that has accelerated since the beginning of the 21st century with paramilitary violence, forced displacement and land dispossession, through the monitoring of five claimant peasant communities. Bureaucratic problems, asymmetries of power against opponents, accelerated growth (with the support of the State) of corporate monocultures for export, lack of an articulation between restitution policy and rural development and continuity of dispossession of land and water are some of the factors analyzed as barriers for an effective restitution of land for rural peasant and ethnic communities. In addition, it analyzes the resurgence, despite the previous context, of some outstanding processes of peasant resistance in the region. Thus, it shows the richness of their strategies and repertoires forming a struggle that allows maintaining the hope of the continuity of peasant life in Montes de María. |
