Sumario:Since authors such as Charles Baudelaire, Friedrich Nietzsche and Theodor W. Adorno showed its significant importance to aesthetic-philosophical-politica reflection, it has become a commonplace refering to Stendhal when beauty is thought as a “promise of happiness”. Considering mainly the works in which Stendhal registered this formulation, the following article will explore different moments that gravitated towards this notion of beauty. Starting from the reconstruction of those moments, which we call “erotic-sensual”, “critical-negative” and “utopian”, we will try to discover the connections from which Stendhal ́s notion of beauty acquires a significant political mark. According to our train of thought, these connections can be established by means of the potentiality of beauty to question other unaesthetic areas of human affairs.
