Sumario:In this thesis, we study software radio systems, its requirements and functioning. We analyze several design techniques for efficient decimation filters with integer factor proposed by different authors, with applications in software radio. We propose a new decimation structure based on a cascade of cosine prefilter, CIC filter and novel second order symmetric FIR compensation filter. This structure shows an improvement in passband frequency and exhibits good frequency characteristics in stopband, through a minimum increase in hardware. Additionally, we present comparative results between proposed decimation filter and reported decimation filters. The description of MATLAB files for proposed algorithms is included in Appendix A. In Appendix B the list of publications resulting from this thesis is presented. MATLAB files of proposed decimation structure are attached in a compact disc located at the end of the thesis.
