| Sumario: | This essay reviews the concept of world hegemony establishing its contents on "leadership-domination" basis. The article reviews the historical arouse of Powers, its stages, long cycles, and average length. This survey incorporates fundamental aspects of Dutch, and British hegemonies, going deeper in the American ascendancy. Performing an exhaustive analysis on literature regarding the topic, the research is centred in I. Wallerstein essays, accomplishing a critical review to his principles and general propositions about the concept and its operation in international affairs. This paper establishes the world hegemony implicates the establishment of a world domination structure, which is mainly based on the hegemonic country's multilateral organisations, corporations, and fundamental institutions. All this is builded on a system of principles, operation rules, military systems, cultural-ideological order, and occupational-social patterns. Such structure has been based on two factors: the international economic structure in every age, and the centennial economic model that helps the hegemon in its arousing. The paper also outlines company's models, States, dominant-dominated elites, and more institutions that characterise the leadership of the hegemon of each era. |
