| Sumario: | This article aims to analyze how major companies have diversified their technology in response to the emergence of new technology paradigms. Starting with a classification of a patent database, this work questions, first, if these processes give rise to convergence between the knowledge bases and the emergence of a new industrial biotechnology paradigm. Second, this work discusses data from major groups on the international scale to determine if this diversification has produced a coherent knowledge base or if it is simply conglomerate growth, and whether there are still entry opportunities for companies in developing nations. |
