| Sumario: | Pitaya is a promising fruit for Colombia and Boyacá department, it is considered within the important fruits to the export market. Statistics show that Boyacá department is the leading producer of yellow pitaya (Selenicereus megalanthus) in Colombia. This fruit has been a priority within policies, local and national programs because it shows a potencial export market. However, factors as low technological crops development limit fruit productivity and fruit quality, for that reason the production is destined to unprofitable markets. Technological issues have not been identified and the necessary steps have not been taken to close the gap between the national and the global offer technological. This study aimed to establish the technological condition of production chain within yellow pitaya crop, during each production and marketing stages. The methodology used was qualitative-descriptive based on field visits, interviews and surveys applied to pitaya growers at the producer municipalities. Technological state within the yellow pitaya productive chain was identified in the results, which has been an empirical method. Yellow pitaya is whitout question a great potential specie, for example to agro-industry uses. Therefore, support strategies must be propose to growers in order to increase the profitability. |
