Descripción
Sumario:The present paper shares the results of qualitative research carried out in a primary school in the State of Hidalgo. The purpose was to identify the disciplinary practices that three teachers applied to students and how they did not contribute to forming critical citizens. The main findings are that the teachers in this study experienced situations of violence during their education. Even though they disagreed with this type of education they reproduced it unconsciously in their own teaching practice since the rules that are exercised are impregnated with symbolic and physical violence towards students. The latter comply with these rules while being watched and punished. Moral behavior is not part of students’ daily performance, that is, there has been no intentional development of moral judgment. This situation contributes to forming heteronomous students. Notwithstanding it is institutionally established as a purpose that children act autonomously in accordance with ethical principles based on respect and dignified treatment, a violation of educational purposes is observed. Even parents themselves consent to the disciplinary practices that are exercised over their children
