Sumario:The aim of this investigation is to raise the phenomenon known as atmospheric pollution and publicize figures concentrations of air pollutants in the city of Tepic, if they exist and what agency or institution is responsible for carrying out measurements such concentrations; to provide a preliminary assessment of air pollution in this city. A conceptual framework is presented to briefly describe the Earth's atmosphere and global historical background contamination, plus the classification of pollutants and their main sources, and national, state and local environmental laws arises. To conduct this research traditional information sources such as books, theses, newspapers and magazines were used, in addition to modern sources such as databases and websites. The most important local information was provided by Secretaría del Medio Ambiente de Nayarit (SEMANAY). In one of the conclusions highlighted the need to publish the results of the monitoring of atmospheric pollution in our city. As an alarm signal, the high concentration of pollutants per capita, suffering Tepic, when compared to other cities is discovered. Therefore, it is essential linkage between academic institutions and government environmental institutions to increase research on this topic and to control and prevent environmental contingencies.
