| Resumo: | This article reflects on the transformations that have taken place in Mexico City after foundational studies on global cities appeared in urban studies literature. The development of a range of researches on the impact that several megaprojects have had on the metropolitan dynamics and on the territorial socio-spatial organization, have determined the structuring of our contribution around three axis of analysis: the consolidation of hegemonic actors in the city’s production process; the rise of resistance processes against the implementation of megaprojects; and the emergence of new forms of social inequality. The analysis of each of these elements allows pondering which have been the most visible effects of the establishment of the neoliberal model, and concluding that today, as in the past, there is a direct relationship between the dynamism of processes of change and the urban transformation introduced by the neoliberal globalization process as well as in the increasing rise of social inequalities. |
