| Sumario: | Sexual harassment of female medical students in Mexico is analyzed considering their condition as interns in a total institution. Based on qualitative research, it is documented how school hospitals operate with totalizing tendencies in which an institutionally legitimized "culture of harassment of female students" prevails. It is shown that sexual harassment is framed by a system of privileges and punishments characteristic of total institutions. To cope with abuse and harassment, female students have developed secondary adaptations. It is concluded that female medical students are captives in a total institution that legitimizes sexual harassment and abuse. |
