Resumo:The aim of this work is to describe the clinical and pathological fi ndings in a dog with gallbladder mucocele, in order to contributeto study this rare disease. The clinical case corresponds to a twelve-year-old, male, German Shepherd dog that presented jaundiceand acute abdominal pain. Blood biochemistry revealed increased liver enzymes, hyperbilirrubinemia and hypercholesterolemia. The ultrasonography study showed gallbladder wall thickening and ecogenic uniform sediment, interpreted as biliarysludge. The dog was euthanized due to his poor condition. At necropsy it was found gallbladder mucocele and the histopathologicaldiagnosis was biliary cystic mucinous hyperplasia. This pathology should be considered as a differential clinical diagnosisof any hepatobiliary disease accompanied by cholestasis. Ultrasonography is the main tool for the diagnosis of gallbladder mucoceleand the recommended treatment is cholecystectomy
