In spite of a common juridical framework, concrete situations vary considerably from one people to the other, from accomodation to open conflict ; the same is to be observed within the same people, at different periods of time. The groups with greater success seem to be those who were able to exit from the strict community level where Canadian indigenous policy tried to enclose them, and form either large intraethnic fronts (like the cree in Quebec and Nunavut inuit) and/or mobilize other social forces in Canadian civil society like the Ekuanitshit Innu.Partiendo de elementos de la historia de Canadá y analizando conflictos y acuerdos recientes en Quebec, este artículo quiere mostrar la inexistencia de cualquier modelo canadiense ̈ estable de interrelaciones entre los pueblos indígenas y las empresas extractivas. A pesar de un marco jurídico común, las situaciónes concretas varían enormemente de un pueblo a otro, que van del acomodamiento al conflicto abierto; también varían en el mismo pueblo, de un período a otro. Los grupos a los que mejor les ha ido parecen ser los que han sabido salir del contexto exclusivamente comunitario en el que la política indigenista canadiense los quiso encerrar, para formar frentes intraétnicos amplios (como los cris de Quebec y los inuit de Nunavut) y/o movilizar otras fuerzas sociales dentro de la sociedad civil canadiense, como los Innu de Ekuanitshit.
